Wedding Website Wording Examples Welcome Messages, Our Story & Event Details
The 30-second answer

Wedding website wording works best in three registers — a warm 2–3 line welcome on the homepage, a 150–250 word "Our Story" told with one specific detail (the real moment, not adjectives), and event cards that are pure information (what, when, where, wear) with one line of personality. Below are copy-paste templates for each, in traditional, modern, and funny voices.

The decisions that matter most

  1. 01

Use warmth on the homepage and precision on event cards.

  2. 02

One specific true detail makes an Our Story section memorable.

  3. 03

Practical notes should be direct, kind and placed where guests need them.

Welcome message templates

Traditional:

"With the blessings of our families, we, Priya & Arjun, invite you to celebrate our wedding. Your presence will make our joy complete. Explore this site for every detail of our celebrations."

Modern:

"We're getting married! Everything you need — schedules, maps, dress codes, RSVP — lives here. We can't wait to celebrate with you."

Funny:

"After 7 years, 2,000 arguments about where to eat, and one very persistent set of mothers — we're doing it. All the details below. Yes, there will be excellent food."

Bilingual touch:

"हमारी शादी में आपका स्वागत है — Welcome to our wedding! / Sade viah te tuhada swagat hai!" — one line of your language warms the whole page.

Our Story formulas

The how-we-met:

Open at the exact moment ("It started with a wrong-number text in 2019..."), one funny detail, one sincere line, the proposal in two sentences. Done.

The arranged-and-delighted:

"Ours began the most traditional way — two families, one rishta, and a coffee meeting we both almost cancelled. Three hours of conversation later, neither of us wanted to leave." (Arranged-marriage stories told warmly are the most-loved pages on Indian wedding sites — own it.)

The third-person playful:

"He says he noticed her laugh first. She says she noticed him pretending not to look. Both are correct."

Event card formula

[Event name] · [Date] · [Time]

Example: "Sangeet Night · Fri 21 Nov · 7 PM · The Grand Lawns (map) · Dress: festive glam — sequins encouraged · Fair warning: the groom's family has been rehearsing for six weeks."

Lines for the awkward bits

  • Gifting: "Your blessings are the only gift we need. (For those who insist, envelopes will be graciously accepted by our delighted mothers.)"
  • Adults-only: "We adore your little ones — and we've made the evening events grown-ups-only so everyone can dance till late."
  • Limited events: "Haldi and mehndi are intimate family affairs; we can't wait to celebrate with everyone at the sangeet and wedding."

FAQ

How long should Our Story be?

150–250 words. Specific beats long — one real detail outperforms five paragraphs of adjectives.

Formal or casual tone?

Match your real voice; mismatched formality reads stiff. Many couples go warm-casual in English with one traditional line in their mother tongue.

Can I write it with AI help?

Drafting help is fine — but keep your one true detail. That detail is the part guests remember.

06
Editing rule

Make every sentence perform one job

The welcome creates feeling. Our Story creates recognition. The event card removes uncertainty. The FAQ handles friction. When one section tries to do all four, guests scan past it.

Read the page on a phone and remove repeated information. If the date already appears in the hero and event card, it does not need to appear in every paragraph.

07
Voice test

Would you say this sentence to your guests?

Elegant wording can still sound natural. Replace abstract phrases such as embark on our forever journey with the way you actually speak. Formality should come from restraint and rhythm, not borrowed clichés.

Keep names, spellings, honorifics and venue formatting consistent across the website, WhatsApp message and printed card.
